The Copper Bowl showing is located on the steep slopes above Siwash Creek. The creek flows east into Powell Lake just north of Chippewa Bay. The geology of the area consists of granodiorites of the Upper Cretaceous Coast Plutonic Complex within which are con- tained small northwest trending remnants of metamorphosed country rock.
Granodiorite is exposed in the creek bed and the contact with metamorphosed argillites and quartzites is visible on steep slopes 200 to 275 metres above. The rocks at the contact are sheared, frac- tured and filled with quartz. The exposed quartz contains chalco- pyrite, arsenopyrite, galena and pyrite. Samples assayed in 1921 had results of 14.40 grams per tonne gold, 462.78 grams per tonne silver and 1.0 per cent copper (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1921, page 220).
